Overview:

Intro to SimpleK and Key Control
SimpleK is the most advanced software for master key system and key issuance management. Designed for buildings to large complex facilities, it is mainly used by:
  • Governments, State or City Agencies;
  • Schools, Universities, Colleges;
  • Utility Companies (Electricity, Water, Gas, Telecom, etc.);
  • Health Centers, Hospitals, Hotels;
  • Industrial Companies, Factories, Corporations;
  • Airports, Museums, Real Estate Company… And Many Others!

About Key Control
Controlling keys is usually the first step in securing facility buildings. The main elements of a key control are master key systems mapping, key duplicates inventory, key holders records, key control policy, complete building listing (with doors, locks, cores, hardware schedules, etc.) and the list of other access control equipment installed in the building along with their locations and relative information.
Consequently, an adequate key control system should provide answers to the following questions:
  • How are my key systems organized and structured?
  • How many duplicates exits, where are they stored or who has them?
  • Which keys can open which doors?
  • Are there some keys that have been lost or stolen recently? If so, what risk does this represent?
  • Is access to the master keys secured and restricted enough?
Basically, are we really in control of the keys in circulation and people accessing our facility buildings?
Evidently, the inherent risks incurred with the lack of control over keys varies from one site to another. However, one thing is for sure, when an investment is made to secure an installation, we want that investment to be durable and profitable. There is only one way to assure the durability and profitability of a keying system, keep control of it!

Advantage Of a Modern Tool
You may be about to setup a new key system, or want to recover control of a current one. In these cases, you have to consider different options like using paper records, spreadsheets (like Excel), basic database or a more advanced software like SimpleK. You may also be already using a software and want to upgrade; but what to choose.
The real challenge of an efficient key control system it to assure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Accuracy: the information is correct (up-to-date)
  • Integrity: the information is complete.

The two main obstacles in achieving these objectives are: the magnitude of the installations to control and the daily activity taking place.
Using paper records or spreadsheets, it’s not easy to be well organized simply because these tools don’t allow you to do cross referencing. You have to keep many listings to find the information you are looking for. Using an advanced database helps you retrieve data faster, search with criteria and produce detailed reports. For example, searching with a door number to find what keys open it and then, printing the complete list of people having these keys; whether they have a single key or key rings.
Whether you do key management for a small building or larger, an advanced software gives you an edge:

Be better organized (complete information, up-to-date, have back up of your data);

Save time (quick access, complex queries, detailed reports);

Save money (stay in control and avoid rekeying, time is money);

Share information (be able to share information with security levels (permissions), multiple users)

Be secure! (good knowledge of your key control real security level, quick access to relevant information in emergency situations)
